The gated driveway leads to ample off-road parking, patio area, large formal garden, steps to woodland paths, woodland and shore line. The property has partial oil fired central heating.
The house built in 1921/22, has historic interest as it was designed as a fishing lodge for Archibald John Kerr Clark Kerr, First Baron of Inverchapel, by his colleague from the Diplomatic Service, Gerald Wellesley, later the 7th Duke of Wellington who had become an architect, commencing independent practice in 1921 in partnership with Trenwith, Lovering and Wills. There is a reference to the house in an architectural publication by Gerald Wellesley 'The Smaller House' of 1924 which is the first book about the smaller houses published since The First World War. The main house was designed for two or three fishermen and their servants but it was soon found not to be big enough, so in 1923 the annex was added to accommodate the servants. Archibald Clark Kerr had a long and distinguished diplomatic career, during his role as Ambassador to Russia in the Second World War he forged a strong relationship with Stalin and later, while in Washington, he oversaw the Marshall Plan and the creation of NATO.
