Property description

A home spoilt with an abundance of charm, found within a beautiful picturesque rural setting. The origins of this attractive home date back to a time gone by, but it has been so sympathetically converted, it would be very difficult to imagine a time when this substantial home was purely a large stone build 17th Century working barn. There are almost two homes available here, which consists of the main four bedroom wonderfully appointed property but also the additional benefit of having ‘The Granary’ which is currently divided from the larger home, but still linked and offers a self-contained two bedroom holiday home. It can continue on this footing and add an additional income year on year, working as a separate annex or removing the divide will allow it to become one even bigger and more substantial home by adding it to the main accommodation.

Beyond the main living rooms and bedrooms, you have the luxuries of two en-suites, family bathroom, utility room and even more than that you have an extremely attractive centre piece to the home which is the very inviting entrance hall which leads onto the charming gallery landing. Within this area is the large expansive windows and seating area which allows and encourages you to take a seat in the arm chair and just look out onto the beautiful countryside that is situated right in front of you. Additional to this you have the well appointed country style kitchen which provides the space and facilities to enjoy the pursuit of challenging yourself with your culinary skills but also allowing you to gather family and friends round the kitchen table to enjoy more relaxed and less formal dining moments.

So within the home the common theme is an abundance of character, charm, space, and variance of accommodation, which is set within a glorious location, gardens and further grounds, associated with the house in striking distance. It blends so wonderfully together and adds even more in providing some glorious quality of life attractions. You have different gardens to venture into, from the relaxed, private mainly wall enclosed hard landscaped garden to the rear, pretty garden to ‘The Granary’ and the open, mainly lawned and generous but equally pretty front garden. Beyond this you have the open views of beautiful pastoral landscape and just across from the main home you have the field and stabling that is available to anyone with an equestrian linked association, want or need (as an optional extra).

What the Owner says:

The barn was built in 1638 and was last used in 1993, it was sold to a builder who developed the barn into living accommodation. What attracted me to the house was the history and the views that I can look out onto.

The adjoining annex has been carefully converted from the wing of the large ancient barn and is nestled in lovely peaceful West Wight countryside with views across the surrounding fields to the downs. It has been equipped and furnished, with the greatest of care, to a very high standard. There is a modern fully fitted kitchen, equipped with an electric cooker & hob, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer and fridge freezer. The lounge is a lovely place to relax in and with two charming bedrooms, both of which is are double. It has a lovely secluded fenced garden which is favoured by a variety of birds including Woodpeckers and Yellow Hammers.

Being only a 10 minute walk from the pretty village of Shalfleet with a pleasant public house, and the coastal town of Yarmouth, which is an international sailing centre, range of good restaurants and shops including sandy beaches are only a 5 minute drive away.
