The village was principally involved in the wool trade and by 1712 Hambrook is recorded as a large hamlet containing 46 families.



With the increasing expansion and industrialisation of Bristol many of the rich middle classes moved out to more tranquil rural surroundings building for themselves large houses set within their own landscaped grounds such as Marigold Court.



The village of Winterbourne is close by providing many day to day facilities, including a Bank, local Co-Op Store, Post Office, Hair Dressers, Opticians, Library, Doctors Surgery and Dentists.
