Property description

This imposing residence is approached via a gated entrance and a long drive, therefore providing an excellent degree of privacy to this home.

The accommodation has been improved by the owners, with a combination of character and modern finish. The kitchen/diner is a most impressive space and is certainly the heart and hub of the home, whether it be for the family to get together to chat about the day’s events, entertain friends and relatives or simply to keep the cook of the house company whilst an evening meal is being prepared.

The sitting room is another spacious area of the home, with its brick chimney breast and fireplace, which is home to a log/coal burner, makes this room an ideal winter retreat, one can just imagine this room decorated at Christmas time with a lavishly decorated tree to one of the corners. Alternatively during the summer months there are french doors opening to the rear garden, providing easy access to the patio area.

To the first floor are five bedrooms, with an en-suite to bedroom one and two and there is also a family shower room, the shower room and en-suite to bedroom two are presently being refurbished.

The grounds extending approximately 2.5 acres are equally as pleasing as the home, there is a combination of areas, with formal gardens to the front and rear, whilst beyond the rear garden is the lake with a small island and edged by grassed areas. Adjacent to the lake is a paddock area and summer house. There is also a stable block with a tack room should the family want to keep a couple of ponies. Parking is also well catered for with a double width cart lodge and secluded additional parking area behind.

Please refer to the footnote regarding the services and appliances.

What the Owner says:

Upon viewing this property we just fell in love with it, our search was over as this home suited all our needs and it had a welcoming and homely atmosphere.

Our favourite space within the home and where we spend most of our time is the kitchen/diner, which we have refurbished, we have a large table to sit around and an island unit to mingle around, friends and family just naturally gravitate to it.

The sitting room due to its size is a superb room for the family to be together or to retire to for after dinner drinks when entertaining. The family room, again with its open fireplace, has a cosy atmosphere and is more suited to daily use.

We have really enjoyed the outdoor lifestyle here, with a spacious patio directly behind the home, which is ideal for eating al-fresco. We love spending time down by the lake, where there is a summer house with a table and chairs and we often relax here with a glass of wine whilst overlooking the lake.

We really get the best of both worlds here, with neighbouring fields behind us and we also have direct to the woodland, which is great for walking the dogs. There is also a great pub, The Mole Trap, at Tawney Common, for all of the semi-rural living we are only 4.5 miles from Theydon Bois tube station, making Central London very accessible.
