Property description
Modern living meets 17th century former Blacksmith's cottage in this magnificent character property nestled in the heart of the rural village of Whitwell. Situated next to the Old Forge and retaining many character features, you will undoubtedly fall in love with its charm and welcoming feel but appreciate all of the top quality conveniences bringing this old property into the 21st century.
Never worry again about being cold on a winter’s night as this home has a modern ECO under floor heating system. Your friends and family are bound to want to visit you in your new home and so why not show off your culinary skills in the bespoke kitchen with oak work surfaces.
After a good meal and a few drinks, why not let them stay over in one of the generous sized guest bedrooms, both of which have en-suite facilities. As you retire to the main bedroom take a moment to look out over the rear garden at the night sky from your very own Juliet balcony.
The dogs will love the wood burner in the lounge which makes a superb focal point to this room. If you need any more space for guests then why not send them out to the garage? Not to sleep within the vast storage area on the ground floor, but to relax in their very own studio suite above which has the provision for en-suite facilities.
On a summer's day, you can while away hours in the garden tending to the many fruit trees and shrubs. This property really has been sympathetically restored to the highest standards and is sure to attract a wide range of buyers.
What the Owner says:
When we first saw this cottage, we immediately recognised the potential it had to be our dream home on the Island. Not put off by the renovation it required, we started the restoration and redesigned the cottage, but kept as much of its character as we could. The windows, fireplace and stone floors all add to the charm of the building. We particularly like the landing area which gives us space for studying and allows views over the countryside. Living in the village is so convenient and everyone is friendly and welcoming. The garage with the studio above has proved very useful not only for our family, but for the storage space it provides. We will be sad to leave our dream home but know it will make a perfect family property for many years.
