Property description
A stunning elevated detached 18th Century Welsh vernacular cottage (recently extended) overlooking Caernarfon Castle, the Menai Straits, Anglesey and towards Ireland. Widely claimed to have been the home of John Evans of Waunfawr who went to America seeking Welsh speaking Indians and who was the first to map the Missouri River. Set in almost an acre and originally several cottages plus an attached barn, the property has been sympathetically modernised and extended to include 5 bedrooms (1 en-suite), a crog loft, large kitchen/diner, a large family bathroom and a 26ft lounge with panoramic coastal and mountain views through almost 360 degrees. Along with several very useful outbuildings, Hafod Oleu offers a sizeable block built tack room and stable with running hot/cold water, an electricity supply as well as a paddock of just under half an acre with roadside gated access. The property is perfectly situated to enjoy hacking over the local mountains to Llanberis, Rhostryfan, Erw and Caernarfon. There are several very well respected equestrian schools locally that offer expertise in classical dressage and other disciplines along with active local riding clubs that run frequent clinics and shed sessions. In addition, there are many beaches in Gwynedd and Anglesey that are perfectly suited for riding and are within only a short driving distance.
