Property description
Travel back in time to a more genteel and elegant age and settle down in this glorious apartment within this magnificent grade II listed Decimus Burton mansion. Start your day in bed with the papers and a morning coffee. The fire pumps out a satisfying warmth from a glorious Rennie Mackintosh inspired art deco fireplace. Wander over to open the shutters that have kept you cosy all through the evening and into the night, and let the sunshine pour in through two large windows while you immerse yourself in your glorious view.
We are having a lazy day today so the fire is also lit in the lounge/dining room, radiating heat throughout the apartment from an efficient modern grate within a stunning carved stone fireplace. A trip to the charming kitchen for more coffee and a light bite gives you an excuse to sit at the little table, look out over the gardens and the old lawn tennis court and drift back into reverie.
With guests arriving for lunch the table is laid perfectly positioned by the large bay window to make the most of the magnificent views - a deer bursts through the wooded shaw onto the lawn scattering a flock of birds that swoop away over the valley high above the grazing sheep and off beyond the church steeple to the horizon. Greet your guests in the grand entrance hall and take a walk around the grounds before heading up an elegant staircase to your apartment and enjoy the rest of your day.
What the Owner says:
I fell instantly in love as I came to the sweeping drive and for the first time turned my eyes to this magnificent building, and started to understand what a truly wonderful location this really was.
I love so many things about the apartment, but having downsized with large furniture I suppose the magnificent large bedroom and beautiful lounge/dining room must be the highlights. Having access to a large loft has been a great bonus too!
The views are magnificent. Special memories include the day the hot air balloon took off from the grounds, the magical sight of a stag in the mists, the fireworks across the valley; not to forget the calming relaxing comforting joy of a beautiful view from every window every moment of the day!
