Kilhaws Cottage was part of the Castle Toward Estate and the district is known as Kilhaws. Close by is the Toward Lighthouse built in 1812 by Robert Stevenson and the ruins of Toward castle which was the home of the Clan Lamont. Toward sailing club is nearby and has a thriving membership.
