Situated on top of a hill in a small rural village, Minster View commands

Outdoor attractions
Gringley on the Hill is a charming rural village which lies in spacious countryside. Situated in a lofty position between Bawtry and Gainsborough, the highest point being the ancient mound of Beacon Hill, a look-out and signalling post in centuries gone by. From here, on clear days, there are magnificent and far reaching views across five counties, particularly to the North over Carrs and to the South-East where Lincoln Cathedral is visible. Aside from stunning views, Gringley offers idyllic country walks, cycle rides and boating on the pretty Chesterfield canal. Designed and built by James Brindley, the canal wends its way around the village, providing the perfect backdrop for a Sunday afternoon stroll.

The village dates back to 1086 when the Domesday Book recorded the existence of a church. With such history, there are many interesting places to visit in the area, including Gainsborough Old Hall – one of the largest and most outstanding surviving medieval halls in the country, it has experienced a notable past, being the place where Henry VIII met his 6th wife, Katherine Parr.

The lovely market town of Gainborough, just five minutes from Gringley, flourishes along a sweep of the River Trent which opens up pleasant riverside walks revealing much of the areas of flora and fauna as well as interesting pieces of modern sculpture. In addition to this, Clumber Park, the Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham and further afield the ancient cities of York and Lincoln, are just a few of the areas and activities which provide wonderful days out.

Sport and Leisure
Nearby Doncaster is home to the local leisure centre. A community based facility offering a variety of activities alongside sports based courses to children, including swimming, gymnastics, trampolining, dance and football.

Just a short distance from the development, Doncaster is home to St Leger, the oldest classic race course in the world. Races have been running each September since 1776 with race days being a truly special occasion, providing ample time to savour good food and refreshments in addition to the racing action. Fitness enthusiasts will relish a visit to the Dome Leisure Centre. With a climbing wall, fitness village, 7 fun pools and a split level ice rink, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Hatfield Water Park offers canoeing, dinghy sailing and surfing as well as a superb climbing wall and aerial walkway.

For those of you who prefer to spectate rather than participate, the Keepmoat stadium is home to Doncaster Rovers football club and Doncaster Rugby football league, the perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon, soaking up the sporting atmosphere.

Entertainment
Doncaster’s amazing nightlife attracts visitors from far and wide, and with it being just a short distance from the development, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a night out. Film lovers and theatre aficionados are catered for with its cinema complex and variety of theatres. Restaurants, clubs and bars create a cosmopolitan atmosphere and a reputation as one of the best night-time venues in the North. The Copley Road area and Netherhall area are abundant with small independent restaurants serving cuisine from around the world. Priory Walk boasts a number of contemporary venues from cappuccino bars to intimate jazz clubs whilst the centre of town offers everything from well-known chains to family owned traditional pubs around the market place.

For absorbing a bit of culture, there are a number of museums and galleries in the Borough of Doncaster. An absolute must see is the Doncaster museum and art gallery situated in pleasant, enclosed gardens in the town centre. Opened in 1964 it tells the story of the Doncaster region using natural history, archaeology, local history, fine and decorative art.

The lakeside area offers a wide range of child-friendly restaurants and bars, making this popular with families.

Shopping
Shopping in Doncaster provides the perfect blend of facilities for shopaholics, blending the tradition of the old market places warmth and charm with the modern shopping experience of the flagship Frenchgate development, boasting over 90 big brand names. The market features over 600 stalls and offers everything from produce to crafts and textiles. Gringley on the Hill is well served by the motorway network, making travel and commuting easy. Located just off the A631, just 15 minutes from the A1, the development is just a short distance to Doncaster, 25 minutes and little over an hour to Nottingham.
The development is also convenient for Robin Hood Doncaster Airport and Nottingham Airport.

From the A1(M) travelling north

Leave the A1 at Junction 34 (Blyth) branching left, then at the small roundabout take the 4th exit travelling over the carriageway. Continue straight over the next small roundabout taking the 1st exit onto the A614, following signs to Bawtry. Follow the A614 for approximately 3 miles and join the A638 towards Bawtry. At the traffic lights, turn right onto the A631 towards Gainsborough and continue for approximately 5 ½ miles travelling through Everton and towards Gringley on the Hill. Follow the signage towards Gringley Carr and turn left onto West Wells Lane where Minster View can be found on the left hand side.

From the M1 travelling north
Leave the A1 at Junction 34 and take the first exit at the roundabout towards Bawtry A614. Follow the A614 for approximately 3 miles and join the A638 towards Bawtry. At the traffic lights, turn right onto the A631 towards Gainsborough and continue for approximately 5 ½ miles travelling through Everton and towards Gringley on the Hill. Follow the signage towards Gringley Carr and turn left onto West Wells Lane where Minster View can be found on the left hand side.

From the M1 travelling south
Leave the M1 at Junction 32 and join the M18 motorway (signposted The North). Continue on the M18 for approximately 9 miles and leave the M18 at Junction 2. Take the 3rd exit on the roundabout and join the A1(M) South, continuing for approximately 7 miles. Leave the A1 at Junction 34 and take the first exit at the roundabout towards Bawtry A614. Follow the A614 for approximately 3 miles and join the A638 towards Bawtry. At the traffic lights, turn right onto the A631 towards Gainsborough and continue for approximately 5 ½ miles travelling through Everton and towards Gringley on the Hill. Follow the signage towards Gringley Carr and turn left onto West Wells Lane where Minster View can be found on the left hand side.
