Outdoor attractionsGringley on the Hill is a charming rural village which lies in spacious countryside. Situated in a lofty position between Bawtry and Gainsborough, the highest point being the ancient mound of Beacon Hill, a look-out and signalling post in centuries gone by. From here, on clear days, there are magnificent and far reaching views across five counties, particularly to the North over Carrs and to the South-East where Lincoln Cathedral is visible. Aside from stunning views, Gringley offers idyllic country walks, cycle rides and boating on the pretty Chesterfield canal. Designed and built by James Brindley, the canal wends its way around the village, providing the perfect backdrop for a Sunday afternoon stroll.
The village dates back to 1086 when the Domesday Book recorded the existence of a church. With such history, there are many interesting places to visit in the area, including Gainsborough Old Hall – one of the largest and most outstanding surviving medieval halls in the country, it has experienced a notable past, being the place where Henry VIII met his 6th wife, Katherine Parr.
The lovely market town of Gainborough, just five minutes from Gringley, flourishes along a sweep of the River Trent which opens up pleasant riverside walks revealing much of the areas of flora and fauna as well as interesting pieces of modern sculpture. In addition to this, Clumber Park, the Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham and further afield the ancient cities of York and Lincoln, are just a few of the areas and activities which provide wonderful days out.
Sport and LeisureNearby Doncaster is home to the local leisure centre. A community based facility offering a variety of activities alongside sports based courses to children, including swimming, gymnastics, trampolining, dance and football.
Just a short distance from the development, Doncaster is home to St Leger, the oldest classic race course in the world. Races have been running each September since 1776 with race days being a truly special occasion, providing ample time to savour good food and refreshments in addition to the racing action. Fitness enthusiasts will relish a visit to the Dome Leisure Centre. With a climbing wall, fitness village, 7 fun pools and a split level ice rink, there is something for everyone to enjoy. From the A1(M) travelling northLeave the A1 at Junction 34 (Blyth) branching left, then at the small roundabout take the 4th exit travelling over the carriageway. Continue straight over the next small roundabout taking the 1st exit onto the A614, following signs to Bawtry. Follow the A614 for approximately 3 miles and join the A638 towards Bawtry. At the traffic lights, turn right onto the A631 towards Gainsborough and continue for approximately 5 ½ miles travelling through Everton and towards Gringley on the Hill. Follow the signage towards Gringley Carr and turn left onto West Wells Lane where Minster View can be found on the left hand side.

Follow the A614 for approximately 3 miles and join the A638 towards Bawtry.
