Property description

This home is a beautiful, detached, Grade II Listed period property located within the heart of picturesque Smarden Village.

If you are local to the area you will be familiar with this property as it is one of the oldest dwellings within the village and in our opinion one of the most charming.

The property offers well presented accommodation, full of character features including exposed brickwork, Inglenook fireplaces, latch doors, beams and timbers – in all adding to the overall charm of this beautiful home.

With parking and a courtyard garden to the rear of the property being a bonus that most homes on the High Street lack, the benefit of this allows you to be in the centre of the village where being integral within the community is a given but also allowing your own private space to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet that village life offers.

The village has a friendly community spirit with lots of local activities, plus local shopping including a friendly and excellent butchers, Post Office as well as three character and welcoming Country Inns, a Primary School and a Church which are all within walking distance of the property.

Please refer to the footnote regarding the services and appliances.

What the Owner says:

My mother had lived in the village for a long time since moving to the UK in the 1950's. This particular house was her home for 10 years and it has a long and varied history, dating back to the mid 15th century.

Rumour has it that some of the timber in the house has come from ships, as there was a ship breaking yard in Tenterden all those years ago.

I am sure that the new owners will love living here as much as my mother did.
