Property description
A home which carries the title of ‘Manor’ and very deservedly so. As you approach the home, you become aware of its magnificence and grandeur, you can at that moment be taken back in time, but today it is purely a beautiful family home full of many unique qualities and virtues. The current owners have introduced an excellent blend of modern contemporary design and finish to areas such as the kitchen and bathrooms, soft colour schemes and modern lighting to name a few that compliment this period home wonderfully. It is set within a quiet lane on the door step of one of the Island’s leading towns, which offers a number of schools, including the Island’s most established Private School, shops, bars, restaurants and a fantastic sandy beach to enjoy the best of coastal living. The town also offers the quickest high speed links to the mainland and beyond.
The property presents you with so many opportunities and could serve a buyer for a variety of reasons; from just being an extremely substantial and beautiful family home to simply enjoy living in, different generations of one family living together, to a place of work or even to provide guest accommodation, subject to the right approvals of course.
Carrying the name of Manor would suggest that the home is generous in the size, character and amount of accommodation it offers and it certainly does not disappoint. The home offers several reception rooms, many of which carry the grace and presence of its period, five bedrooms but it could be more if required as you have a number of attic rooms on the second floor including a substantial library area and study area on the first floor to name a few. The master bedroom presents you with a walk-in dressing area and en-suite bathroom. We could carry on and discuss the cellar rooms, one which is housing a natural well and so much more but you truly cannot appreciate the accommodation here without a personal visit.
Externally, you have the magnificent grounds, beautifully screened from the world outside and big enough for a large crowd to gather and full of dens in the trees where the children can explore and enjoy the great outdoors and benefiting from a quality of life we so often crave.
This truly is a home that offers so much and while the current owners have provided the modern touches where need be, it really is an insight into a time gone by that offers a brilliant level of privacy, but is found on the doorstep of a seaside town.
What the Owner says:
As you walk into the home, it feels like time stops. The outside world disappears and you’re wrapped in this beautiful historic manor, with your own private park laid out at the back of the house.
Although there are only three of us here, we use all of the house and we’ve had 20 people stay and the space has still felt generous. We’ve upgraded the kitchen and all the bathrooms and can use phones and internet throughout.
In the summer, with all the windows open and the French doors of the morning room leading you into the garden, the place is divine. In the winter with the shutters closed at night and wood fires lit in the lounge and the library, the home becomes cosy, helped by the gas heating system which keeps the whole house warm.
It’s in walking distance to Ryde School + Ryde Academy and to the FastCat to London, but if we’re taking the car, Fishbourne car ferry is 10 minutes away. At the end of the unmade road at the front, there’s a footpath to woods and a common and thence to the island’s footpath network.
We will sorely miss the house when we leave.
