Chewton Mendip is in the picturesque Mendip Hills well known for its landscapes, stone walls, caves and unspoilt villages. The village has a great range of facilities including an excellent primary school, pre-school, village shop and bakery, village hall, church and pub. The school and it's facilities are also worthy of special mention. It has excellent academic results and an outdoor swimming pool which is also available to school families at weekends and in the summer. This is much used and a great deal of the social life in the village is centred on the school and its grounds.About 5 miles south is Wells, the smallest city in England (population about 11,000) with local markets twice a week and many medieval buildings including the Cathedral and moated Bishops Palace. There is a busy local shopping centre and a broad range of societies and activities.
