Property description
This country cottage is believed to have been built in 1640, which would put it in the Jacobean era. Originally two cottages, now knocked into one, gives this home a very different feel, so if you are looking for something a little bit unusual then you definitely need to come and see this home.
If you need to warm up on a cold evening, then I assure you, you will be heading straight for the lounge, as it has one of the largest Inglenook fireplaces that I have ever seen. This is believed to date back to when the cottage was originally built and there are even the original meat hooks, salt drying chamber and the alcove where the bread oven would have been installed. This is definitely one of those fireplaces people try to replicate now. The current owner has installed a large log burner, which kicks out a tremendous amount of heat, giving you the perfect place to warm up.
Both of the bedrooms have stunning views over the surrounding countryside, so waking up should never be a chore. The view will definitely put a smile on your face, which is a great way to start your day.
The back garden on this home is a little bit different to what you would normally find as you access it via a long pathway. Once you do get to it, I assure you, you will not be disappointed, as it has the most amazing views over farmland and off to the hills.
What the Owner says:
My wife and I bought this cottage 12 years ago, but unfortunately my wife has now passed away and it is time for me to move on. Mark has asked me why we bought this cottage and for us, one word sums it up and that is ‘quirky’. We searched all the properties that were on the market and nothing came close to this one.
One thing that I will miss when I drive home from work is seeing the countryside that the cottage is set in, as no matter how my day has been, this just puts a big smile on my face.
In the time that we have lived here we double glazed the windows, put a new kitchen in and installed a new LPG boiler in 2013.
