Property description
Situated in a truly rural location, a short drive from Arundel and nestling in the downs this is almost certainly that cosy cottage you have been looking for. Madehurst is a lovely unspoiled village a short drive from Arundel and Amberley and the property is set along a private driveway on the edge of Houghton Forest.
The majority of the garden that comes with the cottage is at the front, although both front and rear are quite secluded and the front is a large sunny area with a central pathway leading to the rather unusual 'conservatory-like' entrance lobby. This is a great space for storing your logs to burn in the open fireplace in the lounge, a cosy room that leads through to the open plan kitchen and dining areas. There is no denying that a new owner will probably want to carry out some updating to the property and this is a room where one might make some upgrades. A small lobby from here provides access to the quiet courtyard garden to the rear.
On the first floor there are two decent sized bedrooms the larger of which offers some really great views over the surrounding countryside. The bathroom can also be found on the first floor and again it is a room that might benefit from a little upgrading.
Finally, parking is catered for by way of a garage, in a block and accessible from the gravelled driveway that leads off Madehurst Road.

When I moved here over 17 years ago I had been looking for somewhere peaceful with lovely views and close to somewhere that I could walk without the use of a car.
This cottage ticked all of the boxes being situated so close to all of the public footpaths that wind through Houghton Forest and in a really quiet area near to the village of Madehurst.
Easy access to beaches, Goodwood, local cultural centres in Arundel & Chichester and good communications North, East and West were all a bonus!
I wanted to work from home and the layout of my property suited me very well in this respect too. I'd always planned to try and convert the attic but never quite got around to it.
