The Uvedales sold the Manor of Horton to Sir Anthony Stuart in 1697 who built a \"handsome house\" around the original building. His son (Humphrey) enlarged the house and Abbey House South includes the old coach house, now its dinning room; he also built the Horton Tower. His son built a lake out the front of the house, which is no longer there, in 1765. Humphrey moved to More Crichel and Abbey house fell into decay.
The Earl of Shaftesbury brought it in 1793 and it was remodeled. It was also a farmhouse and in 1920 was a vicarage until 1961 when the lounge of Abbey House was used as a parish hall which was the original kitchen of the monastery.
Now almost derelict it was sold in 1963 where the buyers made the house what it is today.
