Property description
Surrounded by farmland on the edge of the charming and historic village of East Langdon, this veritable Tardis of a bungalow offers plenty of delightful surprises. With its cosy and quiet sitting room-cum-library, four double bedrooms including a master suite, a large modern family bathroom, plenty of storage cupboards and a small study you think you have seen it all. Then you walk into the vast and stunning open plan living area with its amazing full height vaulted ceiling. This light and airy space includes a gorgeous and colourful kitchen with a large range style cooker, a dining area where a dozen people could easily sit over supper and a vast seating area overlooking the terrace and the fields beyond.
You can imagine all your family and friends congregating here and, in the summer time, spilling out onto the terrace with its brick built barbecue and food preparation area, a pizza oven and even an outdoor fire to keep you warm on cooler evenings.
Over a quarter of an acre of grounds wrap around the bungalow and provide something for everyone. As well as the patio area for outdoor entertaining, there is a fenced area where the children can play safely. Apart from that you will find a vast vegetable garden, a greenhouse, two large garden sheds, a place for chickens and even a ‘bug house’ for those looking to immerse themselves in the ‘good life’. Here you can sit in the sunshine and watch the butterflies and even the young birds learning to fly. For those working from home but who don’t want to be disturbed by the family when they are busy, there is also a separate office in the garden and a driveway for a number of vehicles.
What the Owner says:
“We moved here eight years ago as we loved the views across the fields. We thought it would be our ‘forever’ home, but circumstances are such that we feel it is time to make a move. It is very peaceful and the village is a delight with its ancient church, village green and duck pond. We have made many local friends, are involved in a number of village activities and our children attend the excellent primary school that it is only five minutes’ walk away.
We enjoyed building the large living area extension and have drawn up plans to build two further bedrooms in the roof area. It would also be possible to extend the small conservatory off the spare bedroom to provide even more space. Over the years we have hosted lots of parties and at Christmastime all our large family love coming to stay. As the extension has only recently been built it has plenty of insulation so it keeps very warm. However, the room does include a flue so it would be simple to install a wood burning stove as a focal point.
Outside, we have created the different areas so everyone’s needs and interests are catered for and also so we can sit in varying areas to catch the sun all day while listening to the sounds of the birds and the nearby horses.”
