One of a pair of twin Grade 2 Listed buildings, East Chapel dates from 1876 and was constructed of coursed squared sandstone with ashlar dressings and a Welsh slate roof with stone gable copings. It is a T-plan building of the decorated style, and is situated within the Blackhill Conservation Area. Its twin, West Chapel, was renovated and converted into a family home in recent years.

The property is situated next to a residential care facility, and is within 200 yards of Blackhill village centre, on Durham Road, which has some shops and facilities.
