Property description
Take a trip back in time and enjoy all that this historical property has to offer. An ex-convent school now offers you a home plus an annexe incorporated. The original hook for school blazers greets you in the large entrance hall and there's a bit of upside down living going on but you will love the quirkiness that surrounds you.
On the ground floor there's a huge sitting room which the current owners advise is very useful for guests to use as a bedroom as they also have their own shower room just over the corridor. There is also a workshop on this level.
Up the windy staircase and you are greeted by a wonderful space full of character and beamed ceilings. Modern living engages beautifully with the charm of the home. The open plan kitchen/dining area and lounge area offer an excellent sociable living space. Just imagine gathering here on those special occasions spent with those ones closest to you. Two really good size bedrooms and a bathroom complete the accommodation of the main building.
A completely self contained apartment is located underneath with it's own front door ensuring a feeling of independence or maybe your family like to holiday - well then no excuses for you not to put them up now! Fit them in the annexe.
There's a parking space to the rear and all the delights of Carisbrooke are truly on your doorstep. It's a must-see property so don't miss out.
What the Owner says:
We bought this home 28 years ago and it did need a bit of work doing to it. It was part of the old convent school but we could see immediately what a beautiful home it could be.
Downstairs was pretty derelict but we soon knocked it into shape, forming a self contained apartment which my mother-in-law lived very happily in. We often socialised with the nuns who used to run the school and we have such great memories of our time here. It's just such a great spot - there's a pharmacy, a doctors, a pub and restaurant and an excellent bus service. Historic Carisbrooke and countryside walks can be enjoyed as they are just easy to get to. Sadly we have decided to sell and move now to a bungalow.
