Property description
For anyone looking for the peace and quiet engendered by living in a tranquil cul de sac but also near Canterbury city centre, this four bedroom family home has it all. In fact sometimes the only sound you can hear is ‘leather on willow’ as the Kent cricket team practice in the nets at the nearby St Lawrence County Cricket Ground. Yet just a brisk 20 minute walk will take you to the plethora of well known high street stores, individual shops, restaurants and historic buildings for which the city is justly famous.
Once across the threshold, the warmth of the house envelopes you, whether you are sitting in the delightful living room in front of the fire or having a chat in the snug. This light and airy room with access to the garden, leads to the well fitted kitchen and could easily be used as a breakfast room. The kitchen is just waiting for an enthusiastic chef to enjoy the delights of the built in eye level oven, gas hob and microwave, while guests will take great pleasure in eating dinner or a Sunday lunch in the elegant dining room. Upstairs, the spacious galleried landing leads to the four double bedrooms as well as the family bathroom. One room is currently set up as a well fitted office, so could be useful for anyone needing a study.
Brand new fencing surrounds the secure and easy to maintain rear garden and a recently created south facing terrace is an excellent spot for sunbathing. The garden is ideal for children to kick a ball around while the adults enjoy a barbecue and the in-and-out driveway and garage at the front provide plenty of space for a number of vehicles.
What the Owner says:
We moved to Canterbury eight years ago and have thoroughly enjoyed our time here but our circumstances have changed and we need to make a move. It is so peaceful and there is a real sense of community among our neighbours who are all extremely friendly. We love to be able to walk into the city, but if the weather is inclement and we don’t want to drive the bus comes every seven to ten minutes, so it is extremely convenient. There is also a small Sainsburys round the corner for any immediate requirements, which is very useful.
Canterbury is a wonderful place with its mix of historic buildings including the oldest cathedral in the country, Canterbury Castle and St. Augustine’s Abbey. It is also a vibrant modern city and includes two universities, further education colleges and a range of excellent state and public schools. You can also enjoy a visit to the two theatres where you can see a number of excellent international productions and artists.
We are literally a two minute walk to the Kent and Canterbury Hospital and even the BMI Chaucer hospital is less than a five minute drive, so the house could be ideal for someone in the medical profession - or even a cricketer or cricket enthusiast as the county cricket ground is virtually on the doorstep!
