Transport

Market Harborough Station is on the East Midlands line, with northbound services to Derby, Nottingham and Leicester, and southbound to London St Pancras, a journey of just over an hour. A choice of local buses run along nearby Lathkill Street and Northampton Road into the town centre, with some services extending to Leicester and Northampton.

Arts & Entertainment

Harborough Theatre in the town centre is home to the town’s amateur dramatic society, who present around six productions each year alongside an eclectic selection of touring professional shows. The auditorium is also used by the local film club, and comedy nights are held in the theatre bar. In Market Harborough’s museum, housed in the old Symington’s corset factory, you can find displays relating to the liberty bodice, Symington’s most famous invention, alongside one of the most significant Iron Age hoards in Britain.

Leisure & Recreation

Harborough Leisure Centre, a few minutes walk from Windsor Gate, includes a 25 metre pool, an airconditioned gym, a sauna and extensive sports facilities. Market Harborough is also an excellent base for exploring rural Leicestershire. A pathway along the River Welland provides a pleasant route to the railway station, and National Cycle Route 6 follows the canal towpath from the town's revitalised wharf, now a popular recreational amenity, to the celebrated Foxton Locks six miles away.

Shopping

The local shopping area at Western Avenue includes a Londis convenience store and post office, and there is a Sainsbury’s superstore and an indoor market hall just over half a mile away in the pedestrianised St Mary’s Shopping Centre. The adjoining High Street offers a lively mixture of independent traders, speciality shops and national chains in a traditional market town setting.

Education & Health

Farndon Fields Primary, set in beautiful grounds around 15 minutes walk away, is a popular school with strong community links, and other primary schools within easy walking distance include St Joseph’s Catholic Voluntary Academy and Little Bowden School. Welland Park Academy is also just a few minutes walk from the development. The area around the nearby Leisure Centre also contains a medical practice, a dental surgery and a pharmacy.

Recycling Facilities

There are recycling facilities for glass, textiles and metal cans at the Western Avenue shops, and glass and textile banks at the Leisure Centre, both within a few minutes walk.

Directions

From Leicester and the North

Approaching via the A6 following signs for Market
Harborough, pass through Kibworth Harcourt
then at the next roundabout, by the Texaco petrol
station, take the third exit to enter Harborough
Road, B6047. Carry straight on into the town centre
and along the High Street. From the High Street, follow signs for Northampton and the Leisure
Centre. Half a mile after crossing the River Welland, opposite the yellow frontage of the Protheroes
car dealership, turn right into Lathkill Street. After
quarter of a mile, the entrance to the development
is on the right.

From the South

Approach Market Harborough by the A508
Harborough Road and, after passing the ‘Welcome
to Leicestershire’ sign on the edge of the town, at the roundabout entrance to the Leisure Centre
carry straight on, signposted for the town centre.
Around quarter of a mile further on, opposite the
yellow frontage of the Protheroes car dealership, turn left into Lathkill Street. After quarter of a mile, the entrance to the development is on the right.
