Barton le Street is a highly regarded village that stands in the rolling North Yorkshire countryside of the Howardian Hills. It is a Conservation Area and is perfectly situated between the market town of Malton and the Estate village of Hovingham. The village is pretty; stone built houses under red tiled roofs look across a broad village green at one another in the way they have done for two hundred years or more. There is a fabulous Norman church with later Victorian remodelling and an active village hall. The highly regarded private school, Terrington Hall is nearby. To the east is the charming market town of Malton, and the retail outlet at Monks Cross (with new John Lewis) and Clifton Moor offer varied shopping and recreational facilities and are within easy reach being on the north side of York. The mainline railway station at York has a regular service to London Kings Cross in a best scheduled time under two hours.
