The Property
Crow Green Farmhouse is grade ll listed, it is composed of two houses which were originally separate and have been joined together, both dating from the 17th Century; the two separate buildings are not in line which accounts for the peculiar shape of some of the rooms.
The front door opens into the hall, which leads into the three reception rooms and the main staircase. To the left of the hall is the sitting room, which features a high ceiling and windows facing to the south and west, and an inglenook fireplace fitted with a wood burning stove. Behind the sitting room is the office, reached through a further passage with another outside door; this room also has a large inglenook fireplace and windows to the east and west. To the right of the hall is the drawing room, which has large windows to the north and south and a Tudor plaster-finished fireplace. There is a cupboard to the right of the fireplace and a door leading to the kitchen to the left of the fireplace. This house has a particularly appealing kitchen with a large fireplace, into which is fitted a Nobel oil-fired cooker ( similar to an Aga). There is a pretty pamment floor and windows facing north, south, east and west. To the south side of the kitchen is a pantry and a small utility room, which houses the boiler and washing machine. From the hall, the main staircase gives access to three bedrooms and a further staircase to the second floor. The first bedroom, on the right at the top of the stairs, which is reached through a further small passage, has a high ceiling and windows facing north and east. The second bedroom features a small fireplace, a window facing south and an en suite WC. The third bedroom has windows to the north and south and a door leading to another landing, with the bathroom on the right and a fourth L- shaped bedroom with windows to the south and east. Above the bathroom is a further study bedroom and an attic room. There is also a small staircase leading from this landing back into the kitchen below. The second floor has the fifth bedroom, a small sitting room and the second bathroom. All of the bedrooms have views over the surrounding farmland.
Outside
Crow Green Farmhouse sits in the middle of a plot of 0.45 acres with an enclosed garden on the south side and areas of grass with fruit trees and a large walnut tree on the north and east sides. The barn ( 5 metres x 10 metres) , which is of timber construction with a pantiled roof, is in the north east of the garden. The wide drive leading to the barn will also be shared with the detached workshops and stable. In front of the house, a footpath leads to Tyrells Wood, a large area of Woodland Trust woodland.
Location
Crow Green Farmhouse is in the parish of Long Stratton, although closer to Pulham Market. At the end of the drive, shared with an adjacent bungalow & farm, is the award winning Goodies Farm shop. Long Stratton also holds a good range of local amenities, including a co-operative, bakers, butchers, pharmacy and schools of primary and secondary level. Other secondary schools can be found in Harleston, Diss and Norwich. Diss, which is 8 miles away, has a mainline train station to London Liverpool Street, a journey of approximately 90 minutes. Norwich, which is 10 miles away, is a picturesque and lively city.
Directions
From Diss, head North on the A140 passing the villages of Dickleburgh, Tivetshall and Pulham Market. After crossing the Pulham Market round about, continue for a further two miles and the turn right into Wood Lane. On Wood Lane, Goodies Farmhouse will be seen on the right and the driveway to Crow Green Farmhouse is on the left, between two houses.
