Property description
Nestling in 0.79 of-an-acre of park-like grounds in the rural village of Staple, the house was sympathetically extended many years ago to provide well designed living accommodation for a large family.
Nestling in 0.79 of-an-acre of park-like grounds in the rural village of Staple, the impressive this property is a delight to behold. This very spacious property sits well back from the road behind a laurel hedge, surrounded by countryside and near the beautiful, historic Norman church.
Originally built in the 1970s, the house was sympathetically extended many years ago by a previous owner, to provide well-designed living accommodation for a large family. The three main reception rooms flow through to each other, giving a wonderful feeling of light and space and provide great opportunities for hosting large parties and other social gatherings. You can stroll out to the terrace from the palatial conservatory or informal sitting room to take in the garden view – a perfect setting to enjoy al fresco dining. The vast and attractive kitchen incorporating country-style oak units and a range of modern appliances is ideal for anyone who enjoys cooking, while the open-plan breakfast room with its brick arch and recess is likely to be the true hub of the household, where all the family can congregate. From here you can wander into the L-shaped conservatory and spend many hours watching the wildlife in the colourful grounds. If you work from home the study is well-placed, just inside the front door and adjacent to the cloakroom, so business visitors do not need to venture into the main part of the house.
Off the spacious landing is a spectacular family bathroom together with five bedrooms, including the master suite with its plethora of storage cupboards and an attractive bathroom. While outside, as well as the wonderful garden there is a long driveway, a double garage and additional secure gated parking – ideal for that boat or caravan.
What the Owner says:
A fantastic wood-burning stove radiates heat throughout the whole house and, during spring, summer and autumn, we spend many hours in the large conservatory enjoying the amazing wildlife in the garden. We have numerous pheasants, jays, woodpeckers and squirrels who enjoy the expanses of lawn and majestic specimen trees. We have also created a wild flower area around a natural pond where moorhens nest amongst the bulrushes and lilies.
The village is a pretty and friendly place – and even has its own vineyard. Although Staple is surrounded by farmland, it is ideally placed in the middle of East Kent. We are only 20 minutes from Canterbury and the coastal towns of Dover, Deal & Broadstairs, while Sandwich is just ten minutes’ drive, through the country lanes.
For those who enjoy walking there are many country footpaths radiating from the village and, for the golfers, there are eight golf courses within twenty minutes’ drive. We enjoy visiting the lovely old Cinque Port town of Sandwich, with its fine restaurants and quaint independent shops located in charming narrow streets. For the high-street shopper and for entertainment, there is Westwood Cross and Canterbury.
