Property description

A fine detached house, in a semi-rural location with views to the front of Odiham Common and to the rear over farmland.

Potbridge is a small district, situated between Odiham and Winchfied and on the north fringe of Odiham Common. Odiham is a delightful historic town with a rich architectural heritage of listed buildings, a royal pedigree and convenient access to a range of local shops and amenities. The High Street has great charm and character.

The independent 2015 quality of life survey by Halifax concluded that Hart District was the most desirable place to live in Britain for the fifth year in a row. Odiham is situated in the district of Hart, in north east Hampshire. London Waterloo accessible in about an hour via the mainline rail stations in Hook & Winchfield and access to Junction 5 of the M3 motorway is about 3 miles away.

The ground floor accommodation comprises entrance hall, cloakroom, fitted kitchen/breakfast room, utility room, living room, dining room, family room, study and office. On the first floor there is a master bedroom with fitted wardrobes and en-suite
shower room. There are four further bedrooms, three of which have access onto a balcony at the rear of the property with
views over neighbouring farmland. There are is also a bathroom and shower room. Externally, there is a large garage, shingled driveway for parking and turning and an area to one side for storage. The gardens are predominately laid to lawn and extend around the rear and side of the property, adjoining Odiham common.

The property has been improved considerably over recent years by the current owner, the decorative order is very good. The house has double glazed windows and doors and gas heating.

Odiham Common is a beautiful amenity enjoyed by people throughout the district and beyond. The Common is one of the few examples of wood pasture outside the New Forest and is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

It now consists of 284 acres of wood pasture, meadow and common land and was designated an SSSI in 1992 on account of the rare flora and fauna found there. It is a joint SSSI with the adjoining Bagwell Green and Shaw, which used to form part of Winchfield Common. The two commons run side by side along the route of Wilks Water, the stream which separates them. Odiham Common was historically referred to as Holnhurst or Holmhurst, or on Godson's map of 1739.
