Property description
This property is a warm and friendly 1930s family home in the delightful village of Kingsdown, where the countryside meets the coast. You can experience the cosy atmosphere the moment you walk into the welcoming and spacious reception hall that leads to the elegant lounge, dining room and conservatory as well as the kitchen/breakfast room and adjacent utility room. The house is on a quiet cul-de-sac with about 24 houses and so is very safe for children and pets. It nestles in a secluded wraparound garden that has been charmingly landscaped by the owners. Whether you want to sit on the terrace, potter in the potting shed or grow a few vegetables, there are plenty of options to encourage you to spend time outside. You can enjoy cooking sumptuous meals in the country-style kitchen/ breakfast room with its large range cooker and then invite guests to supper in the dining room that leads to the attractive conservatory, with its bespoke blinds and views across the garden. With a large modern bathroom and three double-bedrooms on the first floor, including the master with an en suite shower and a dressing area, there is plenty of space for everyone. There is another double-bedroom on the top floor and a study/fifth bedroom that could possibly be turned into an en suite bathroom and dressing room if an older family member wants their own facilities or be used as a quiet ‘away-from-it-all’ office for anyone working from home. For golfing enthusiasts, the excellent Kingsdown and Walmer Golf Club is nearby and the charming town of Deal with its shops, restaurants and seafront is only about two miles away. There are plenty of places to go for walks or cycle rides, both in the countryside or along the seafront. It is only a short walk to the sea, via cliff top which is at the end of the road.
What the Owner says:
We have thoroughly enjoyed living in our home for the past 12 years but feel it is time to downsize. The area is very friendly and, as we live on an ‘unadopted’ road, we are part of the Avenue Road Users Association so know all our neighbours, who are friendly and supportive. We love Kingsdown and hope to move somewhere nearby. Over the years we have had many friends and family to stay and everyone seems to gravitate to the dining room and conservatory as they are such relaxing rooms and we can hold great parties as we have such a large hall that flows through to the other rooms. The village offers a mixture of coast and countryside and is on a bus route to Dover and Deal. It includes three pubs where you can also enjoy a good meal out and not have to drive. There is also a post office, butcher, hairdresser and newsagent, a church and a village hall that offers a variety of community activities as well as a pre-school crèche. There is an excellent primary school and Martin Mill station is not far away. Our home is also an ideal centre for days out, whether you want to pop across to the Continent, visit local attractions or spend the day in Canterbury with its historic buildings and high-street stores.
