Property description

This beautiful 1930s family home is like an oasis in the heart of Folkestone. Set well back from the road you can feel the peace and tranquillity the moment you step through the front door into the attractive reception hall with its original staircase. When you are in the charming conservatory looking out on to the large but easy to maintain garden, this feeling continues. You can listen to the birds, see the magnificent espalier trees providing privacy from the neighbours, stroll outside to see the fish in the ponds or sit on the terrace under the pergola watching the grandchildren splashing in the plunge pool beside the summerhouse. Indeed, in the summer months you can spend all day in the garden with it’s strategically placed terraces so you can follow the sun all day, nooks and crannies where the children can play games, an aviary for birds as well as a greenhouse for green fingered enthusiasts. This spacious property provides accommodation for a variety of requirements. If you want to work from home there is an excellent office and the garage has been converted to a vast games room - large enough for gym equipment and to play table tennis. If you love entertaining the elegant drawing room and formal dining room provide an excellent venue for dinners and cocktail parties while the snug and the very well fitted modern kitchen/breakfast room are ideal places for the family to congregate and relax.

For anyone with an elderly relative there is a separate brick built extension with a shower room adjacent to the pool that could be converted to an annex. Upstairs, the magnificent master bedroom is a delight with a wall of wardrobes including mirrored double doors hiding the entrance to the large modern en suite bathroom. There are two further double bedrooms and a family bathroom as well as two adjoining bedrooms – just right for siblings looking for their own space but able to communicate with each other.

What the Owner says:

We have lived here for the past 34 years and it is where our children have grown up. But they have now left home and we feel it is time to downsize. It has been a wonderful family home and we have fond memories of hosting parties, barbecues and Christmas days as well as spending happy hours in our lovely garden. We have even put up a marquee on the lawn for weddings and other family celebrations.
We love the peace and quiet and yet we are only a short walk from the station for the high speed rail to London. There is a bus stop nearby and plenty of activities available in the town and surrounding areas. For sporting enthusiasts there is a small golf course well as a sports centre with a ski slope, large swimming pool and gym. There is an indoor and outdoor bowls club and the Folkestone football club within walking distance. Morrisons supermarket is not far while Folkestone town centre includes a variety of individual shops and high street stores as well as some delightful restaurants, bars and coffee shops. If you want to pop across to the Continent we are near the Channel Tunnel and the motorway and, if you are thinking about children’s education, we have excellent grammar schools in the town.
