Property description
They say that a decision as to whether you say yes or no to a property is within 30 seconds. On arriving in the grand porch way and entrance hall at this character wing house you'll probably say yes (which is exactly what the current owners did!). The palatial surrounds of here and the landing set the tone for the home and the feeling of space is a feature throughout. A magnificent sitting room enjoys plenty of natural light through large dual aspect windows. The whole family can be warmed through after a countryside stroll courtesy of the roaring open fire which takes centre stage.
Sat at the dining table and taking in the view across towards Ashdown Forest you could be forgiven for forgetting the proportion of the room you're sat in. The dining table alone could host your extended family too!
The breakfast or post school snacking sessions are easily catered for in the kitchen/breakfast room which too, is illuminated by dual aspect windows. A hatch can be opened up to allow access to the cellar. Utilities are catered for in a utility room which is larger than most kitchens!
All the bedrooms are more than impressive. The two with the rear views are even more so. The family bathroom is beautifully finished and the children will be invigorated for their days ahead. The en-suite is of equal condition.
Extra storage is found in the cellar which can be accessed outside. Where you will also find parking and a garage as well as gardens that span the front, side and rear.
What the Owner says:
When we first visited this property we were blown away by the space on offer. We had looked at so many houses but nothing came close to the size and beauty of this period wing. We felt that this property offered the best of both worlds: the convenience of being so near to everything versus the beauty and calm of the countryside. The location of Portland Road couldn't be better, just a few minutes walk and you're in the High Street. Waitrose is a stones throw away as is the doctors surgery and the vets. If you need to catch a train that's also within an easy walk. The interior is full of period features and the house itself is steeped in history which we have found very interesting. We will miss the space, the beautiful views and the convenience of living here.
