Property description

This property is a charming Grade II listed house in the delightful village of Great Mongeham, on the outskirts of Deal. This lovely country property is set in 0.438 of an acre of mature gardens that include a swimming pool and for the petrol heads among you, four garages.

The house has all the delights of a period home and is just waiting for the next owner to upgrade it to suit their individual style. It is an ideal family home with two intriguing beamed bedrooms and a bathroom on the top floor that would suit a couple of older children. There are two elegant double bedrooms on the first floor and, on the half landing between the ground and first floors there is almost a secret ‘hidey hole’ that includes a bedroom, bathroom and sitting area that would be a dream area for any little girl.

Looking out over the front of the property there are two charmingly proportioned reception rooms and beyond lies the quaint ‘olde worlde’ kitchen which is thought to have much older origins than the 18th Century main parts of the house. The veritable ‘hub of the household’, leading off the kitchen, is a bright, modern extension which overlooks the wonderful wraparound garden with its large terrace, a plethora of mature fruit and deciduous trees, shrubs and flower borders as well as the swimming pool and enough lawn for youngsters to let off steam with a football.

What the Owner says:

“As soon as I saw the property I said: “This is the house for me – even before I had walked in the door – and since then it has been our home for the past 46 years!” It has been a wonderful and very happy family home and the picturesque village has always been a very friendly community. It is an historic place with a 14th century church and a number of period Dutch style houses. There are two pubs, a post office and a good primary school.
Since we’ve been here we have added the sitting/dining room so we could sit and look out over our lovely garden and bought additional land and built the swimming pool so the children and their friends could enjoy playing outside.
Although we are in a village, it is only about 2 miles from the charming town of Deal. The high street at Deal has been named ‘High Street of the Year’, it’s a wonderful character seaside town with a wide range of hotels, restaurants, pubs and individual shops that lead down to the promenade and seafront. The town has supermarkets and a very good range of educational facilities, whether you are looking for nursery, primary or senior schools.”
