Property description
With two excellent primary schools close by and the gorgeous Peckham Rye park at the end of the road, here's a wonderful place to set up home in East Dulwich. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a 50ft garden - this well made Victorian house is in a top position just moments from the park and a really good parade of shops and restaurants. The interior is thoughtfully designed and appointed and the garden has been cultivated lovingly over the last seven years.
From the hallway, take a left into the first reception room with bay window (beautiful, new, wooden sash windows were fitted a few years ago), a working fireplace and original coving. The hallway then opens up to a second reception room with a door to the side return. Dining room? Study? Use it as you like. Underneath your feet are solid French oak boards and there's a black Italian slate hearth and another working fireplace. Passing reception two and some under stairs storage you reach the kitchen/diner with a lovely view straight across the garden. The look is simple but high quality - concrete worktops, glossy white cupboards and more solid oak flooring. Two wide sash windows and two velux windows over the dining area keep things really light. In the garden you will find robinia, a weeping pear, apple tree, sumac, bay, hellebores and peonies. A glass greenhouse provides a place for sowing seeds and potting.
Up stairs and the first of the bedrooms is a very generous single overlooking the garden. Next up is the main bathroom with lovely walk in shower, gorgeous grey porcelain tiles to floor and walls, a WC and wall hung basin. The velux window keeps things light and airy and maximises space. Up a couple of steps to bedroom two, a neutral, carpeted double. The master bedroom follows, a good looking and expansive double with sash windows and painted wooden floor. There's plenty of space in here for a big armoire, a dressing table and so on. Up more stairs to bedroom number four, another big double with eaves storage and en suite shower room - the ideal teenage den.
Goodrich School is four minutes up the road and Peckham Rye park, beloved of dog walkers and families, is too. The local parade on Forest Hill Road contains a Cooperative, a Post Office, a trendy hairdressers and several nice places to eat, including the hugely popular French Cafe. Further up, the Turkish greengrocer has the best range of fruit and veg in the area. The delights of Lordship Lane are close too, with Northcross Road Saturday market and some excellent boutique and gift shops. Getting into town is easy - take the 63 bus from the end of the road all the way to Blackfriars, Farringdon and Kings Cross, or jump off at Peckham Rye station and be at London Bridge or Victoria 10-11 minutes later. The London Overground from Peckham Rye and Honor Oak will take you further, to Hoxton and beyond!
