LOCAL INFORMATION Moulsford is a charming village and civil parish in Oxfordshire and sits beside the River Thames, just north of Streatley and south of Wallingford. To the west of the parish are the foothills of the Berkshire Downs, which include the Moulsford Downs - a site of special scientific interest - and Moulsford Bottom and Kingstanding Hill, traditionally associated with King Alfred and the Battle of Ashdown.
To the north of Moulsford is Moulsford Railway Bridge, designed by Isambard Kingdom Bruel and built in 1838/9.
The famous Bronze Age 'Moulsford torc' was discovered in the parish and purchased by the Museum of Reading, with the help of a grant from the Art Fund in 1961. It comprises a hoop-shaped decorative neck ornament, made of four spirally-twisted gold alloy strips held together by a delicate piece of twisted gold wire.
Today, the village has two private schools - Cranford House School and Moulsford Preparatory School - and a cricket ground. The Beetle & Wedge Restaurant is famed for its fine dining. There are many pretty houses remaining and the charm of the village is reflected in its lovely riverside setting with its close proximity to Goring & Cholsey
