Property description
This beautiful country home, which forms part of an imposing nineteenth century manor house, sits in a superb location 2.2 miles from the delightful town of Bradford on Avon and 1.6 miles from thriving Trowbridge. We purchased Hebden House almost four years ago, say the owners, and at that time we were looking to downsize. However, despite downsizing the grounds, the house was much the same size as our previous home, but it was a real case of the heart ruling the head as we fell in love with it the minute we set foot inside the front door.We would describe the house as a lovely family home, spacious and elegant. Theres some amazing wallpaper and the huge windows are dressed with sumptuous curtains and we also have some stunning chandeliers, all of which will be remaining with the house. The improvements we have made to the property have been mainly behind the scenes, as it were. Weve increased the amount of insulation, installed new double-glazed windows, maintained the heating system, added a new aga, and installed electric gates
all things that mean the house is now in excellent working order. We have a wonderful kitchen, dining and living area, say the owners. Its a wonderfully sociable space in which we have a big kitchen table, a sofa and a desk, so everything goes on in there, and the French doors create a really beautiful connection with the patio beyond. There is also a comfy sitting room with a log burning stove that we had installed. The drawing room is an incredibly impressive part of the house. Its enormous, has a lovely high ceiling and is extremely elegant. Its a fabulous room in which to entertain, and when the sun is streaming through the huge windows its absolutely beautiful."There is plenty of room for guests with four bedrooms and a loft room which guests can stay in."This exceptional property boasts landscaped grounds, which extend to around three-quarters of an acre. Although the garden had been extremely well designed, it had been a little neglected for a number of years and so during our time here, weve done a lot of work to restore it, say the owners. We have large lawns and a beautiful patio terrace with a pretty pond, and a raised stone seating area at the end of the garden that is an ideal spot for an alfresco dinner party. We also have raised vegetable beds that include soft fruits and an asparagus bed. We are within walking distance of Trowbridge, and Bradford-on-Avon, and just a 20 minute drive from Bath, says the owner, And yet our property is situated within green belt countryside. We really are intending to downsize this time, say the owners, but there is so much that we shall miss about living at Hebden House. We have loved having such a beautiful house, and well miss the space, the elegance and so much more. It is such a lovely home.
