Property description
A fine example of Edwardian elegance, built by a highly regarded local builder in 1904 for him and his family, it is obvious to see why this house is the perfect labour of love. Designed to be the centre of attention it boasts all the period features you can imagine, including coving, ornate balustrade work, picture rails and stunning fireplaces to name just a few. This unique property will have you head over heels from the moment you walk up the garden path, the impressive double doors decorated with brass works gives you the first sign of the grandeur that is on offer. Full of history, character and charm this house has a history of being a home to help young mothers and the garden was even used to grow food to feed the local neighbourhood during times of rationing. Nowadays it makes the perfect family home, whether you have toddlers, teenagers or children in their twenties there is enough room for the whole family here. With four good size bedrooms and a fabulous useable loft room the space is superb. During summer months the garden is an idyllic playground for the children, cleverly sectioned into separate areas you can unwind with a glass of wine on the terrace whilst the children spend some excessive energy on the tucked away lawn. At Christmas time this house really does come in to its own and shows off all it has to offer, with a large bay window fit for only the biggest Christmas tree you can all sit by the fire as a family watching happy children unwrap their presents.
What the Owner says:
We knew we had to have this house the second the front door opened, we didn’t even need to walk inside when we fell in love and knew this had to be our home. The children have grown up here and having the additional loft room meant we all had our privacy and more than enough room. We recently had a baby shower for my daughter here and had dozens of guests, it’s ideal for socialising as there is so much space, guests can spill out in to the garden no matter what the weather is like all thanks to the covered terrace which is very useful. We have really enjoyed finding out about the history of this house, apparently the builder built the houses opposite for his daughters too which is an interesting fact.
