Property description

If stunning views across the rolling hills of the North Downs appeals, this attractive 1920s period house in Temple Ewell will delight you. From the moment you climb the steps towards the front door and look back from the large front raised terrace to the panoramic vista, the peaceful environment will envelop you. This tranquil mood continues as you walk into the house, with its period features such as arches, high ceilings and picture rails, as well as a restful colour scheme and wood flooring throughout. On the ground floor there is a delightful light and airy lounge/dining room with a central arch attractive fireplace and large windows overlooking the countryside. Just inside the front door is a reception room that could be used as a fifth bedroom or would make an excellent office as business visitors would not need to go through the rest of the house.

The family is bound to congregate in the charming kitchen/breakfast room with its range of modern units and integrated appliances. Clothes will dry very quickly in the large, well-fitted laundry/utility room as it houses the boiler and, if you have had a busy day, you can spend time relaxing in the sauna with its adjacent shower room. Up the sweeping staircase you will find the elegant master bedroom with its en suite facilities and double doors to a balcony where you can breakfast while enjoying in the beautiful scenery. There are three further double bedrooms off the galleried landing as well as a modern family bathroom.

The unique tiered rear garden is a haven for wildlife and a place of exploration for children. It has been beautifully designed with steps, terraces, a summer house, greenhouse and shed as well as plenty of lovely Kent ragstone walls, but created in such a way as to ensure it is very low-maintenance. The higher you go the more magnificent are the views and children will love to venture up to the woodland area where they can camp out or enjoy a game of hide and seek among the trees.

What the Owner says:

We fell in love with the house when we first saw it, even though, at that time, it needed a lot of work doing to it. We raised our family here very happily, but now, some thirty-six years later, it is time for us to downsize. Temple Ewell is a delightful village with two good pubs, two convenience stores (one with a post office) and a village hall which offers plenty of community activities. We are within walking distance of the train station and bus route, and we are ideally situated for travel to Canterbury, Folkestone, Deal and Dover. We are minutes away from the ferry port and with the high-speed rail link from Dover Priory, trips to France and London could not be easier. We have two very good primary schools close by and two excellent grammar schools within easy reach. We think this property is a wonderful home in a quiet and peaceful location, close to all amenities but surrounded by beautiful countryside. We hope whoever moves here will be as happy as we have been.
