Property description
Originally two cottages, this charming property retains many of its original period features and has a fascinating history.
The current owners are informed that the house belonged to the Leconfield Estate and Lord Leconfield’s Gamekeeper lived here. En route to Bognor Regis, King George once took tea in the parlour. One of the outbuildings was used as the bakery for the estate and the cottage was extended after the Second World War. There is even a working well in the garden.
The flexible layout is very family-friendly and features open fires, beamed ceilings and exposed brickwork. The 2,165 sq ft accommodation includes an ensuite master bedroom which enjoys the most stunning sunsets and there is plenty of room for when friends come to stay.
The property stands within well tended gardens on all sides, meaning that there is always a sunny spot. High hedging provides privacy, seclusion and security. The sellers rent a small paddock to the rear, at a cost of £300 pa, which has proven to be perfect for big family events and parties.
Conveniently located for easy access to the south coast, this delightful property is only about 4 miles from both the medieval, bustling town of Petwork and Pulborough, which has a mainline station giving direct access to London and Gatwick.
What the Owner says:
We moved here about twelve years ago and bought our home as a project.
We thoroughly enjoyed updating and improving the property including the addition of a beautiful timber conservatory, five years ago, which has provided us with a stunning "garden room" and which floods the adjoining room with light.
Visitors always comment that the house has a lovely feel to it and that the layout flows really well.
Having bought up our two children here, it's now time for us to move on and we hope that the next owners enjoy the cottage as much as we have.
