About the area: Pilton is a pretty and sought after Somerset village in beautiful countryside between Wells, Glastonbury and Shepton Mallet. The major towns of the area being Bristol, Bath, Taunton and Yeovil are all within commuting distance and there are excellent road networks to London and the South. Castle Cary is the nearest train station with fast links to London.Wells is the smallest city in England (population about 11,000) and nestles close to the Mendip Hills - an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Wells has excellent local markets twice a week and many medieval buildings including the Cathedral and moated Bishops Palace.Nearby, Glastonbury's past and its present are linked with its dominant landmark, the Tor, and is well known for being a religious centre back into the times of legends. The town grew up alongside the Abbey and is a thriving major tourist area.. Shepton Mallet is another historic town which is now rapidly growing. All three offer a wide range of facilities, societies and activities. There are excellent state & independent schools in the area including many village primary schools, Crispins, St Dunstans, Strode College, Wells Cathedral School, Millfield, Downside, All Hallows and the Bruton schools

Uphill Lodge stands alongside a small lane which sees very little traffic. Originally part of an old Victorian brewery the house is in the centre of a large stone building. It has very appealing and spacious accommodation which has been improved over the years and which benefits from double glazing and oil fired central heating with radiators. It includes a roomy entrance hall which has the staircase, a quarry tiled floor and a decorative archway. The sitting room is an excellent room which has a large bay window, a french door to the garden and an open fireplace with a pine mantle surround and an inset Jet Master fire.

.
The separate dining room also has a fireplace but which has not been used for some time. The kitchen has a quarry tiled floor, ceiling spotlights on tracking and a good range of fitted cupboards with a sink unit, tiled splashbacks, space and plumbing for a dishwasher and also space and wiring for a freestanding cooker (cooker and dishwasher available by negotiation). Off the kitchen is the utility room, again with a quarry tiled floor, the oil fired central heating boiler, one and a half bowl stainless steel sink unit with cupboards below, shelving, back door to the garden and a door into the integral garage. The garage is entered by double doors from the lane. It has a water softener, tap, power and light and a garden cloakroom with a wc and hand basin.

..
The first floor landing has the airing cupboard and a large accessway to the attic (which provides good storage). The main bedroom has a large bay window, a hand basin and a range of fitted wardrobes and cupboards. There are 3 other bedrooms, one has a hand basin and all have built in wardrobes. There are 2 bathrooms and the main one has tiling, a hand basin, wc, bidet, shower cubicle and bath. The other also has tiling, a hand basin, wc and bath.

.
The garden of Uphill Lodge is quite idyllic. It's sunny and well sheltered by the high stone walls which also give it great privacy. It includes lawns, flower and shrub beds, a paved terrace and a large garden store house which also houses the oil tank. NB One of the photos of the back of the house was taken in summer time.
