Property description
Driving up to this property you are immediately drawn to the charming kerb appeal exuded by this delightful late Edwardian family home. It has been beautifully extended by the owners and now creates a wonderfully balanced ambience from the moment you step onto the driveway. Once inside the house you can really appreciate the family friendly feeling enhanced by the retention of many original features including the stripped pine flooring, fireplaces in many of the rooms, the veranda leading from the attractive dining room and the bay window with leaded light windows in the drawing room. However when you see the large and very stylish modern kitchen/ diner-cum-family room with double-aspect bi-folding doors opening onto the secluded and well-maintained garden, you immediately realise this area provides everything you need for 21st-century living. Any cook would be absoutely thrilled with the kitchen. It includes a central island and breakfast bar, a large range cooker, American fridge/freezer and wine cooler. It is here where family and friends are likely to spend much of their time and, when the doors are open on a sunny day, it is as if you are virtually living outdoors, listening to the woodpecker in the trees. With four double bedrooms, including one with an en suite wet room, a family bathroom as well as the master suite there is plenty of room for an extensive family. And if you want something really special the master has a Juliette balcony overlooking the garden and a stunning private bathroom on the mezzanine floor above. A large double garage with plenty of storage space has been built attached to the house and you would never believe that it had not been part of the original house, as the attention to detail is so perfect.
What the Owner says:
“We even have pop-up plugs for tablets, laptops and chargers on the kitchen island and if you need more rooms it would be possible to convert the new garage into a separate annex, subject to the appropriate planning permissions. Much of our time is spent in the kitchen/family room and we have even had some 40 people to a party in there – and it wasn’t too crowded! It is a lovely home for a family and for entertaining and we thoroughly enjoy curling up with a good book in front of the fire in the living room. It is also great in the summer when we can open all the bi-folding doors and sit outside on the large patio. But sometimes, just relaxing in the peace and tranquillity of the garden is equally delightful or pottering in the vegetable patch. There is even a back gate that leads to a path so we can walk the dog down to the beach. It is also not far to the local schools and the station as well as to the town centre with its shops, restaurants and bars.”
