Property description
Have the chance to own a slice of history, this Grade II listed home was originally built in 1767; this remarkable house was a wedding present from Lady Taylor to her son Augustus and new daughter-in-law Elizabeth. As the property stands over five levels you are blessed with some lovely views. The village comprises of around 60 houses and characterful buildings along with a couple of restaurants, shops and a pub. The local people will all tell you how charming the village is and the friendly community will no doubt welcome you with open arms.
Once you push open the front door and step inside this elegant home you will be forgiven if the butterflies in your stomach start to flutter. Just take a minute or two to fully appreciate this opening sight; highly polished stripped wooden floor boards adorn the floor, take in the beautiful feature fireplace and reconditioned sash windows all of these wonderful features echo throughout this home that is simply bursting with character. Imagine relaxing in the sumptuous lounge which just oozes charm, whilst the bespoke Potts kitchen area and garden room area are perfect for family and friends to get together, it will certainly become the sociable "hub" of the house.
Really take your time to look around this property as it is designed to be loved and enjoyed; I imagine that was the thinking of Lady Taylor when she gave such a lavish wedding gift all those years ago!
What the Owner says:
We have loved living in our beautiful and quirky home for the last 8 years. It's such a versatile home being over 5 floors, the children can have friends over and you don't even know there in!
The village has a very active community with Morris Dancers performing in the square in the summer and a Christmas carol service is performed there in the winter.
The Chequers Pub overlooks the river and the Carmelite Priory is 10 minutes walk away, which is very picturesque in the snow and hosts the monthly Farmers Market, vintage car shows and other events.
