The village and the neighbours are very friendly and we have regular activities in the village hall including a film club with monthly showings of current films, and the annual fete. There is also a village cricket club and excellent places for walking the dog. If you are interested in riding there is a very good local stables and the nearby farm sells top-quality meat from home-reared animals, while the Alkham garden centre provides everything you want to keep your garden in tip-top condition.
There is the excellent Marquis restaurant within walking distance and
Tesco and Sainsbury’s are about five minutes away by car, although the small supermarket and other shops in nearby River can provide for your immediate needs.
We are not far from the Channel Tunnel or Dover docks for trips to the
Continent, and Canterbury offers excellent pubs and restaurants as well as tourist attractions and shopping facilities. For golfing enthusiasts there are three quality golf courses between Deal and Sandwich and, for younger children, the surrounding coastline makes a trip to the seaside an easy option.
