Property description

Hidden behind a pair of impressive solid wood gates, this unusual L-shaped chalet bungalow is a delight with plenty of character features such as reclaimed wood doors, fireplaces and slate floors. Surrounded by the Romney Marsh countryside, the views all around are stunning and, once through the gates into the inner courtyard, you are immediately enveloped by the welcoming atmosphere of this unusual property. Walking into the very modern kitchen/breakfast room with its wall of windows and breakfast bar overlooking the courtyard, you can feel the warmth of this veritable hub of the household. With its central island incorporating two hobs, a wine cooler and a moveable matching unit with granite worktops coupled to a range of modern units with a dishwasher, two eye-level ovens and a microwave, it provides everything even the most discerning cook could require. Much of the ground floor is designed for both family and the entertainment of guests, with an attractive dining room and an archway through to a games room and on to the elegant lounge with its charming brick fireplace and wood-burning stove. Both the dining room and the sitting room have French doors to the terraces, with amazing views across the adjacent fields. There is also a modern family bathroom and two double bedrooms including one with an en suite shower as well as two bedrooms and a cloakroom on the first floor. Outside, there is plenty to enjoy including a variety of nooks and crannies where you can sit and follow the sun all day. There is a double carport garage and workshop, storage sheds, a tandem garage and another carport high enough to take a horsebox or motor home so there is plenty of space for a number of vehicles. Behind a high hedge is a fence line storage facility as well as a lawn that could always be used as a vegetable patch if you want to ‘grow your own.’

What the Owner says:

“We have lived here for the past 20 years and have loved every minute of it. The versatility of the accommodation has been a real boon as we have moved things around as life has changed. For example, as our daughter got older she was able to have the whole of upstairs and thoroughly enjoy her personal ‘space’. It has been a delight to upgrade the property over the years – especially the kitchen/breakfast room where we spend much of our time as a family. The views and the peace were what drew us to the property but even though we live out in the country we are not far from Dymchurch, Lympne or Haguelands Village with its farm shop for our immediate needs while Hythe, Ashford, Rye and Canterbury are not too far. In fact, we have the best of both worlds – living in the country but very near sandy beaches which the children thoroughly enjoy. There is a bus stop outside the Botolph’s Bridge pub and children can even walk down the adjacent lane and catch the miniature Romney Hythe and Dymchurch railway to go to school! There are plenty of wonderful walks as well as places to ride horses and go fishing. Lympne is a charming village with its mediaeval castle and the famous Port Lympne animal park so there are plenty of places to take visitors. We also have a regular bus service to the lovely Cinque Port town of Hythe with its restaurants and individual shops and Ashford for the high-speed train. Lympne includes a shop, a pub and post office as well as an historical Church.
