Property description

Period elegance in the heart of the town. No written words and printed images can prepare you for what you will find just minutes walk from Stone town centre, and only your heart will tell you, it must be yours! A town house with generous gardens, beautiful architecture, an interesting history and a captivating vibe. This Grade ll listed detached residence is situated on the edge of the bustling market town centre of Stone which has highly regarded schooling, fabulous commuter links and a community which celebrates it's greatness with an endless stream of festivals and street markets. A Gentlemans residence perhaps in previous times, but today a family home which has and will respond to the pressures of modern day living, but doubtless will create and always evoke the most wonderful of memories. The extensive accommodation includes an imposing drawing room, morning room, and dining room, but the pilliaried entrance porch and reception hall will take your breath away before you have set foot in any of these. The family kitchen is located to the rear and has it's resident Aga, there is a games room and conservatory which lead from the morning room (If annexe accommodation is required, please let me direct you to the floorplan to see how the games room and rear service rooms could be altered accordingly, subject to necessary planning consents) and further rooms include a laundry and boiler room, a cloak room and guest W.C. On the first floor, the fabulous landing will easily accommodate a working from home study and four generous double  bedrooms come along with stylish bathroom, separate Shower room and additional W.C. The external garaging and garden stores are extensive and the gardens simply divine. There is a formal turning circle with gravelled drive to the front, but has further accessibility from the neighbouring street to the rear, with garage and store rooms. The gardens have been beautifully manicured and impeccably maintained and have a selection of seating areas where the formal Italian sunken garden can be appreciated, with further extensive lawns and a fabulous selection of plants, trees and shrubs.

History of the House
An interesting history along with an enchanting home. It is thought the original Park Lodge would have been a little more humble than today's grand residence and began life in the 1660s although actual written records begin over a Century later. Over the years many changes have taken place with the property and of course it's owners. Most notably from 1895 the property was owned by the renowned potter George Jones whose works are most sought after particularly in the United States, it was extensively renovated and extended during his time. True to say that as an owner with a property like this you simply spend a period of time in its company and are privileged to do so.

Ground Floor

Canopy Porch
The most stunning entrance to a property, behind the four stone circular columns and under the canopy is the first of many beautiful stained glass doors. This is the main entrance to the house and this door leads into the reception hall.

Reception Hall - 18' 4'' x 13' 11'' (5.59m x 4.24m)
A fabulous entrance hall being full of period features including the fireplace fashioned around the Arts and Crafts era and having layered brick hearth and back with bespoke canopy hood created we presume to tie in with the detailing on the newel posts from the staircase. Beautifully maintained oak parquet flooring, panelled walls and turned staircase leading to the first floor. Two period style radiators. Decorative stained glass sash window to the front.

Drawing Room - 22' 5'' x 13' 11'' (6.83m x 4.24m)
A beautiful room with regency styled curved elevation to the side and having French doors leading out to the side garden. Fireplace housing living flame gas fire, decorative panelling to the walls, picture rails and coving to the ceiling. Period style radiator and sash window to the front.

Dining Room - 19' 6'' x 18' 5'' (into bay) (5.94m x 5.61m (into bay))
A fabulous room to entertain, with a stunning stone fireplace as the focal point, and bespoke dresser style shelving and cupboards to one wall and deep walk-in bay window with stained glass leaded lights to the front elevation. Radiator, decorative panelling to the ceiling and picture rails. A serving hatch is open to the kitchen.

Morning Room - 21' 10'' (into bay) x 12' 1'' (6.65m (into bay) x 3.68m)
Aptly named the morning room as this room is simply flooded with sunlight before lunch and continues to be a pleasantly bright room throughout the day. Walk-in bay window with stained glass leaded lights. Marble fireplace with hearth housing gas living flame fire, built-in storage cupboard, panelling to the walls and coving to the ceiling. Radiator.

Rear Hallway - 7' 6'' x 3' 6'' (2.29m x 1.07m)
Having a window to the front.

Games Room - 25' 11'' x 16' 9'' (7.9m x 5.11m)
A fantastic space with part panelled walls, three radiators, three windows which overlook the conservatory and beautiful stained glass windows to the rear elevation. It is prudent to note that in former years this room was an extensive double garage and the original garage doors are still to the exterior and therefore could be reconverted if desired but also valuable to note that due to the layout of the property, should there be a requirement for independent living within the house for family members or staff, this area could be utilized as an ideal annexe.

Conservatory - 33' 2'' x 13' (10.11m x 3.96m)
This is a beautiful conservatory although perhaps not quite what many of us think of as a conservatory today, not a bit of UPVC in sight! There are raised brick flowerbeds and a fabulous mature grapevine, painted brick walls and windows overlooking the front, rear and side gardens. Quarry tiled flooring, glazed roof and glazed doors to front and rear.

Guest Cloak Room - 6' 8'' x 7' 8'' (2.03m x 2.34m)
Stylishly fitted with a modern suite comprising close coupled WC and vanity wash hand basin with glass splashback and cupboards beneath. Recessed ceiling spotlight and leaded light. Tiled flooring and chrome ladder style radiator.

Breakfast Kitchen - 18' 8'' x 12' 4'' (5.69m x 3.76m)
The heart of every home is in the kitchen and with this comes the oil fired Aga to radiate heat and make it a cosy room all year around. It has been thoughtfully finished and designed with practicality and family life in mind. Fitted worksurfaces extend along four sides and incorporate a one and a half bowl composite sink unit with mixer taps, tiled splashbacks and a matching range of base, drawer and wall mounted units with some open shelving and glass display cabinets. Appliance space left for an under counter fridge, dishwasher and conventional slot in cooker. Period style radiator and picture rails. Recessed ceiling spotlights and double glazed window overlooking the side courtyard.

Walk-in Pantry - 10' 5'' x 4' 9'' (3.18m x 1.45m)
Every home needs one and this walk-in pantry is well fitted with plenty of shelving ideal for kitchen storage

Rear Porch - 10' 4'' x 7' 11'' (3.15m x 2.41m)
Having built-in storage and shelving, radiator and dado rails. Double glazed door to the rear.

Store Room - 10' 3''(max) x 7' 11'' (3.12m (max) x 2.41m)
With stainless steel twin sink unit and drainer and cupboards beneath, further fitted wall cupboards, dado rails and window to the rear.

Laundry Room - 7' 11'' x 7' (2.41m x 2.13m)
Fitted with a stainless steel single drainer sink unit, cupboards beneath and an appliance space for a washing machine and tumble dryer. Tiled walls and flooring and window to the rear.

Boiler Room - 7' 4'' x 6' 4'' (2.24m x 1.93m)
With window to the side, storage cupboard and wall mounted gas central heating boiler. Tiled flooring.

The flowerbeds surrounding are well stocked with a range of flowering perennials. Leading around from the lawn to the very front of the property the gravel drive takes you in under the copper beech and around a lawned turning circle with standard light and the front of the garden plot is screened again with a beautiful selection of mature plants and shrubs in a range of different colours both flowering and non flowering. Further access then leads through to a cobbled courtyard with the carport and garden stores and also access to the conservatory area again fully enclosed with brick walls.
