Property description
You can look out over one of the best views in Whitstable from this innovative and contemporary house. Whether you are sitting upstairs in the stunning vaulted ceiling sitting room, with its plethora of windows and wood floor, even higher in the upper family room, out on the small terrace, downstairs in two of the three bedrooms or in the garden, the vista across the rooftops to Whitstable Bay and as far as the Isle of Sheppey is incomparable. Designed as part of the award-winning ‘Columbine Heights’ development in 2005, by well-known architects Clague, this stunning property can be a truly special permanent home or a wonderful, easy-to-maintain, weekend and holiday getaway. From the delightful Kentish clapperboard-style exterior to the glass and metal snug balcony and the light and bright sitting room to the virtually maintenance-free garden, everything has been created to provide a wonderfully relaxing environment. There are patios outside virtually every room and the well-fitted kitchen/dining room provides everything you need including a built-in oven and hob and an integrated fridge, freezer and dishwasher. You will find plenty of storage such as the vast cupboard that houses the washing machine and large walk-in wardrobes in two of the double bedrooms including the master with its en suite facilities and French doors to the garden. The house is also designed for entertaining whether you have friends round for supper or a barbecue on the large decked terrace. It is only a little over a mile to the charming town centre with its range of individual shops, restaurants and pubs, beach and harbour, while the well-respected Joy Lane primary school is only about half a mile if you have young children, and golfing enthusiasts can drive to the Whitstable Seasalter Golf Club in about seven minutes.
What the Owner says:
“It was the views that first attracted me to the property coupled with the light and airy ambience. It is wonderful to be able to sit up in bed in the morning and just admire the scenery when I am having a cup of tea or wander out into the garden on a sunny day and breathe in the fresh sea air. However, I also really enjoy spending time in my spacious sitting room. I love the fact that, although we are not far from Whitstable town centre or the Thanet Way for Canterbury and London, it is very quiet as we are on a private cul-de-sac, so I rarely hear any cars – just listen to the sound of the birds. There is a bus stop nearby and also plenty of places to walk the dog, whilst all the neighbours are friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Whitstable is a great town because you have a working harbour with a variety of seafood such as oysters as well as a selection of unique shops to suit every taste. The restaurants are excellent, including Wheeler’s Oyster Bar and the Michelin-star Sportsman at nearby Seasalter. However, I want to live nearer my children so I hope another owner will be able to enjoy this house as much as I have.”
