Property description

If you love rural living and being surrounded by the countryside as well as gardens that are a true haven for peace and tranquillity, this charming period cottage could be the answer. Approached via a sweeping driveway, the first things you notice are the spectacular views across fields and woodland on one side and the garden with its mature trees and shrubs as well as a large wildlife fish pond.

Walking under arched privet hedges to another secluded area, you reach the very useful outhouse and then to a pretty courtyard, leading to the original back door. This leads into the attractive country-style kitchen/dining room with its beautiful quarry-tiled floor and beamed ceiling, a modern kitchen area at one end with a stainless steel oven and hob and a traditional dresser and original kitchen range in the dining area providing plenty of period character.

There is a cosy sitting room with views across the front garden and the woods beyond and a multi-fuel burner that keeps the property very warm in the winter. On the first floor you will find a very contemporary bathroom and two double bedrooms including the master with its built-in cupboards and dressing area. The top floor consists of the third bedroom with beamed ceilings and Velux windows offering spectacular views as far as the eye can see. The front garden is a courtyard-style interspersed with shrubs and trees providing another area of interest where you can sit and relax.

What the Owner says:

We have a vast array of wildlife visiting our garden including pheasants, woodpeckers, moorhens, rabbits and badgers. The various areas of the garden provide lots of nooks and crannies so, if you want to spend some quiet time to sit and sunbathe or read a book, you can always find a private spot. We have lived here for almost 20 years and enjoyed every minute.
Although we live in the country we are not far from the M2 for London and only 15 minutes from Canterbury and Whitstable. Herne Bay and Sturry stations are close by for the high-speed train. It is less than two miles to Broomfield village where there is a post office, mini-market, hairdresser, two takeaways and two pubs and, if you want an evening out and don’t want to take the car, you can always walk to the highly-rated Prince of Wales pub and have a drink and a very pleasant meal. For those who enjoy walking and riding there are plenty of bracing country walks nearby as well as a number of local horse-owners, livery stables and bridlepaths.
