Appleton Appleton is a civil parish and suburb of Warrington in Cheshire, England. The A49 road runs through neighbouring Stockton Heath up the hill into Appleton and links Warrington town centre with the M56 motorway. At the heart of Appleton is The Warrington Golf Club. There is a large burial site situated at the top of Red Lane named Fox Covert Cemetery. The cemetery has excellent views overlooking the whole of Warrington and the surrounding countryside and is known locally as Hillcliffe. This is a very popular vantage point on special occasions, such as Guy Fawkes Night and New Year's Eve. There are four schools in Appleton, Bridgewater High School, Broomfields Junior School, St Monica's Catholic Primary School and Cobbs Infant and Nursery School.

Stockton Heath Stockton Heath is a highly desirable South Warrington village and the property is within easy walking distance and sure to be very popular for those looking to be close to all the local bars, restaurants and shopping facilities. The educational facilities are also to a high standard and the M6 and M56 motorways are located within a few miles ensuring ease of access to the major North West towns, cities and airports.

Bridgewater Canal The Bridgewater Canal was the forerunner of all man-made canals in that it was the first canal that was dug out on an entirely new course, (not following an existing river or water course), and it was constructed in the late 18th century. The Duke of Bridgewater financed the whole enterprise, as he foresaw the benefits that he would gain from having a transport system that would enable him to move huge amounts of coal from his coal mines at Worsley up to Manchester. The Duke engaged James Brindley to engineer his canal, and he designed the route of the canal to follow contours and to be lock-free. The only complication to his route was the need to devise a method by which his canal could cross the valley of the River Irwell - and for this Brindley designed a stone aqueduct, one of the first on the whole canal system. The Bridgewater Canal continued to be used for the transportation of heavy goods right up until the 1970s.
