In More Detail
This aesthetically pleasing Victorian home has a pretty front garden, the path to the front door has kept its original ornate floor tiles. Through the front door into the communal hallway you enter the maisonette, up a set of stairs with its beautiful wooden banister, a first of many characterful features. From the landing the first of the three double bedrooms overlooks the gardens below, it is exceptionally light with double aspect sash windows and an original wood and coloured glass door. The bathroom is presented beautifully with a neutral palate, tiled throughout with modern stainless steel fittings and towel rail. It has plenty of light with a sash window. The shower is over the bath and there is a handy storage cupboard that also stores the boiler. Theseparate WC is also on this level, the neutral yet modern touches are reflected here also. When entering the generously proportioned living room you are automatically hit by the light from the huge sash bay and second sash window. This room has almost too many features to mention, from its parquet style floors, working period fireplace to the original delicate cornices and high ceiling. This all opens up into the open plan kitchen. If you dont fancy the open plan feel the kitchen can be closed off by the original Victorian bi folding wooden doors, making it nice and cosy. The kitchen has also a decorative working fireplace, a sash window overlooking the gardens at the back and a warm terracotta tiled floor. There is plenty of space for a large dining table. The wooden units are painted in a Farrow and Ball chappell green colour. This flexible, social space is a perfect mix of country and contemporary style. The stunning private roof terrace is entered through double glass doors up from its own landing, it again mixes the old with the new perfectly with its original Victorian wall and modern glass panel surround. A perfect contrast.
Underfoot is a stylish yet practical wooden deck with artificial turf laid at one end, there is built in seating which doubles up as storage. This is an impressive social space you will be eager to show off to all your friends come the summer months. On the top landing the other two double bedrooms can be found, the main is to the front with built in storage a sash window and feature of the eaves though not restricting the head height. The current owners have had architect plans drawn up to add in an en suite here so this is a great option if required. (Dependant on the usual planning consents.) The last of the three double bedrooms overlooks the gardens at the back and mirrors the main bedrooms feature of the eaves. To top it all off this spectacular home has the opportunity to purchase its entire freehold! See sole agents Sawyer&Co for further information.
What the owner says
This house is fantastic for socialising and entertaining, we have had 30 people and it still didn't feel cramped. The location is fantastic. At the end of the road is the quiet part of Hove beach and the King Alfred leisure centre. You can walk into central Brighton and there is an abundance of amazing pubs nearby. Its a great area for families with so many activities on the doorstep such as messy play, playgroups, child friendly cafes and some of the best primary schools in the area, such as St Andrews, West Hove and the Connaught. We hope that the next owners will be as happy living here as we have been.
