Fortunately building works had started on The Granville so we were able to buy this charming home from new 15 years ago and for the past five years we have lived here permanently. We have loved the time we have spent here, particularly watching the twinkling lights of France at night. We enjoy popping across to the Continent for the day from nearby Dover. It is also very easy to reach our boat on the beach so we can go fishing or take the grandchildren for a boat ride St. Margaret’s at Cliffe is a very community-spirited village. We have a number of restaurants, a hotel and four pubs including the well-known The Coastguard on the seafront as well as a post office, village shop and the Wallets Court Spa and Hotel where locals and visitors can make use of the gym, sauna and swimming pool. There is a wide range of societies and clubs including the St. Margaret’s Players for those with a theatrical bent and plenty of wonderful walks along footpaths and trails to Kingsdown, the Dover Patrol Memorial and the South Foreland Lighthouse – the first lighthouse in the world to have electric light.
