Property description

Fans of character and period charm are sure to be impressed by this beautiful 18th Century cottage. Believed to date originally from 1780, this house has had an interesting history with spells as both a home as well as a variety of shops. Part of owning a property like this is often the joy of discovering the history and finding the little fascinating quirks of the house delving into it’s past. Do not mistake the age and style for reasons to need to compromise on the mod cons we have all come to want from our homes in 2017. The utility room and the impressive downstairs shower room give a more modern twist that will be sure to impress. This shower room in particular will be a huge hit with the children, which should leave the luxurious bathroom upstairs with the roll top bath, to mum and dad. A long soak here looking out through the picture frame window out over the garden, is just the remedy after a hard day at the office. It is another case of ‘best of both worlds’ when it comes to living space, the large lounge will have room for all the family to gather and the smaller snug sitting room, with the traditional fireplace will complete a winter’s evening.

There is also a great outside patio and garden facing out the back onto the beautiful Sharsted Woods. Newnham is a hugely popular village with a great feel about it, ideally located between the market town of Faversham and Sittingbourne, as well as with easy access to Maidstone or Ashford.

What the Owner says:

We have loved every minute of the thirteen years we have owned this house. It is steeped in history and has been part of the village life for many years. During the 1930’s the now lounge was a motorcycle garage, then in the 70s/80’s it was the village post office and then before we bought it two bee keepers made their honey in the old shop area of the house. With careful liaison with the local conservation officer we were able to convert the shop front and interior area in to a great lounge.

This has been a great family home and we will be sad to move on as we have brought up our two daughters here and have made so many friends in the village.
