Property description
Driving down the charming Church Cliff in Kingsdown, you are immediately impressed by the range of delightful detached properties that lie alongside this leafy lane. Next door to the historical church lies this property – a large and attractive chalet bungalow set well back from the road. As you turn in through the double pillars that flank the entrance, this beautiful property is laid out before you. As you step out of your car and see the three ponds and the delightfully landscaped front garden including a double tandem garage and carport, you know this is no ordinary home. Once across the threshold, the sprawling entrance hall leads to the vast open-plan kitchen/breakfast and dining room where you can play host to large dinner parties or just enjoy sitting round the table with the family.
You can take pleasure working from home in the delightful study overlooking the front garden or relax in the elegant drawing room with its oriel windows and wood-carved fireplace. From here you can wander into the warm and friendly sun room overlooking the charming and secluded rear garden with its lovely trees, shrubs and two patios, where you can entertain your friends and family to barbecues, sit in the sunshine with a cup of coffee or potter in the attractive greenhouse. Alternatively, you can walk out of the back gate straight on to a footpath that can take you all the way to Walmer Castle and the beach, without having to go on the road.
Upstairs, the guest room with en suite facilities provides privacy for visitors while the third bedroom and the master bedroom, with its attractive and useful wall of fitted wardrobes, are adjacent to the family bathroom. The wonderful views from all the bedrooms make you appreciate how near you are to the sea.
What the Owner says:
“The house was originally built in 1946 and we moved here in 1979. It will be a wrench to leave after 36 years but I feel it is now time to look for something a little smaller. Since moving here we have completely refurbished the property, creating a large kitchen/dining room as the real hub of the household and where we thoroughly enjoyed entertaining our friends and family. One New Year’s Eve we had twenty-two people sitting down to dinner! We expanded upstairs to provide three good-sized bedrooms and bathroom and converted the dining room into a study or a fourth bedroom.
We loved the peace and quiet and often the only sound is the birds tweeting in the trees. It is a very supportive community and many of the neighbours have lived here even longer than us so we have made a lot of good friends over the years. Kingsdown offers a delightful mixture of coast and countryside and is on a bus route to Dover and Deal. It includes a post office, butcher, hairdresser and newsagent as well as three pubs, the church and a village hall. There are water sports, tennis and, for golfing enthusiasts, we have the excellent Kingsdown Golf Club, while Deal is only about two miles away, with its individual shops, hotels, restaurants and pubs.”
