“We moved here 14 years ago and have thoroughly enjoyed everything about our home, but family commitments mean we have to make a move. During the time we have been here we have been delighted to install a new kitchen and bathroom as well as the stable block and manege. However, if you are not into horses, it would always be possible to rent out the equestrian facility as it is a little way from the house. We also created the annex where my father has lived happily for many years. We had planned to extend the cottage and there is lapsed planning permission available for an additional two bedrooms, another bathroom and two rooms on the ground floor. It would probably be quite easy to arrange for the permissions to be reinstated if you are looking for more accommodation. It is a wonderfully peaceful and tranquil place to bring up a family. We love sitting out on the terrace in the garden during the spring and summer just admiring the view and listening to the birds or inviting friends round for a barbecue. At the same time, although we are out in the country, we are very central for Folkestone, Dover and Canterbury and there is a bus stop nearby. Alkham is a friendly village and includes the well-known Marquis restaurant, a cricket club and a hall offering a variety of activities while Hawkinge is not far away with its eateries and local shops.”
