Property description
Three bedroom detached bungalow in an elevated position with lovely views across Box Hill. Comprises two reception rooms, one bathroom, study, garage and beautiful gardens.Greenacres has been the happy home of Cathy and John for 20 years and it will, says Cathy, be a wrench to leave it. Situated in an elevated position amidst the grand old beech trees off Box Hill, it has far reaching views across the picturesque Box Valley. We have the privilege of living in a lovely environment providing wide open country views, yet we are not at all remote. The spacious land surrounding the property provides peace, quiet, and privacy. We are not overlooked by other buildings or neighbours. To the rear, the large garden backs on to fields and the only thing which may occasionally look over the hedge would be a horse or deer! It is the location which first drew us here and this is still my favourite thing about Greenacres. The property is very light, airy & spacious. It has many windows including a huge picture window in the lounge. Looking out of here on a summers evening, you can sometimes see a fantastic coloured sky across the valley as the sun sets. You really do have the best of both worlds, says Cathy. Living in a semi-rural environment does not mean sacrificing the convenience and amenities of living in a town or city. We are only approximately a 12 minute drive to the M4 Junction17, making the area popular amongst commuters working in the City who prefer to retreat to the more peaceful countryside during evenings & weekends. Mainline train services are available from Chippenham and Bath providing regular services to Bristol and London, and the main national network. Getting to the station without a car is not a problem as there are regular local buses going to Bath & Chippenham. The bus stop is just a 5 minute walk from the front door. The lovely city of Bath and market town of Chippenham are both just approximately 7 miles away.Closer still is the charming village of Box which provides all the basic facilities you may need. We have a Co-Op mini supermarket, post office & newsagent, traditional butcher, doctors surgery, pub, infant school, cafe & restaurant. The petrol station provides a cash point.Box also has a lovely village green and recreational ground with a village hall which provides all kinds of community activities if you wish to get involved.Box is less than 1 mile away, and is within walking distance. I often walk down to the village in no time, but take longer returning as the walk back is all uphill! None the less, I see it as good exercise! And mentioning walking, there are endless country walks in all directions for both serious walkers and those just wanting a gentle stroll. There is no need to drive out and park up before starting your walk. You can walk straight out of the front door. And for those who offer to take out the dog, there is our popular local pub just10 minutes walk away which is dog friendly. The vendors say: We think the best thing about the property itself, is that it would suit any type of buyer whatever their own individual life style and future plans may be. Greenacres is perfect for a buyer who is keen to move and live in the property just as it is. Equally, for someone with great vision and grand designs, the house has huge potential to be transformed. We will greatly miss living here. We are now 20 years older and our life style has changed from when we first moved in. Its time to move on to a smaller place.
