Birdwood Cottage is a Grade II listed building. The Georgian recessed multi-paned windows, panelled doors, dado rails and lofty ceilings suggest a house of mid to late 18th Century origins (circa 1780s). Reputed at one time to have been a hostelry/ale house, it may well have started life as the residence of a prosperous merchant.
